We hope you will find some of the below questions and answers helpful before you apply for a position with us. We also strongly encourage you to read our Candidate Booklet which contains important information about how we recruit at The Housing Agency.

If you are unable to find the answer to a question below, please email us at recruitment@housingagency.ie and quote ‘Recruitment query’ in the subject line.

We advertise all our roles on our careers webpage www.housingagency.ie/careers and publicjobs.ie. We also advertise all our social media platforms including on LinkedIn, X and Facebook

If you are interested in one of our roles and have the skills and experience necessary, please read the candidate booklet, job specification and complete the relevant application form.

This must be emailed, by the specified closing date to recruitment@housingagency.ie

You will receive an automated response confirming receipt of your application. Applicants are also advised that they should contact The Housing Agency HR department if they have not received an automated email within one week of the closing date.

After the position closes, applications will be reviewed against the criteria for the role and a shortlist will be compiled. If you are on the shortlist, you will be invited to interview. If not, we will let you know. If you are not shortlisted, there may be future roles with The Housing Agency which suit your qualifications, skills and experience so keep an eye on our careers page and publicjobs.ie

Sometimes our competitions can take a little longer than usual so please be patient with us.

Interviews will take place in-person at our offices located at 53 Mount Street Upper, Dublin 2.

If you have additional needs and are invited for interview, please get in touch by e-mail recruitment@housingagency.ie to let us know as soon as possible.

This depends on the role. For many of our senior roles, we call the top scoring candidates back for a second-round interview. In some cases, our interviews include presentations or tasks. You will be notified of dates and requirements in advance of any interview.

You will find the salary for each role on the job specification. Please note that successful candidates new to the public sector/civil service will commence on the first point of the salary scale.

All interviews are in-person unless otherwise stated. Interviews with The Housing Agency are competency based. Each job specification will clearly outline the required competences for the role along with essential and desired criteria. You should look at the competencies set out in the job specification. We will be looking for demonstrations of these behaviours at interview.

If you have been called for interview, you may request feedback. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we receive, we cannot provide feedback if you have not been shortlisted.

We would like you to start as soon as possible after the contract has been signed (within 4 weeks). However, we realise that some people have longer notice periods so we will try, if possible, to accommodate longer periods.

In general, feedback from our current employees is very positive and we have recently been certified as Great Place to Work. For further details, please see our Employee Experience webpage for a more detailed look into what those working at The Housing Agency say about their experience.
